If you have ever suffered from haemorrhoids or piles as they are more commonly known, you will know how embarrassing it can be.  Did you know that approximately 50% of the population will suffer from this problem at some point in their lives and women commonly experience this problem during pregnancy and childbirth.

If it's the first time you've had them, you'll may wish to visit your GP to check things out where he or she will make a proper diagnosis and put your mind at ease.

Haemorrhoids are varicose veins located in the rectum, just above the opening of the anus.  Apart form the discomfort, piles can encourage constipation and even the small amount of blood that is lost each day from these veins is enough to cause anaemia over a period of time.

Several essential oils can be used: Cypress oil, Juniperberry oil, Frankincense oil can be used locally when suitibly diluted and in baths on a regular basis.

If constipation is also a problem then Rosemary oil, Marjoram oil or fennel oil can be massaged on the abdomen (diluted with a carrier oil) to help stimulate mwovement.
