Benzoin essential oil : Styrax benzoin
Benzoin is found in cambodia, Java, Laos, Sumatra, Thailand and Vietnam and is extracted from the gum of the benzoin tree.
Benzoin is thick and dark golden brown in colour having an aroma which resembles vanilla.
Benzoin is a resinoid and can not be obtained as a pure essential oil. The resinoid is the natural extract from the tree, which is then diluted with solvent (benzyl alcohol). This makes it easier to pour and handle as the natural product is thick and difficult to handle.
