Paraben Free Range - Welcome
Here you will find our Paraben Free range of creams, gels and moisturisers.
What are parabens?
This group of chemicals are used as preservatives in
cosmetics.
Four main parabens are in use: methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben and butylparaben;
many products will have 2 or more of these chemicals as part of a
preservative system. Parabens can be found in shampoos, commercial moisturisers,
shaving gels, cleansing gels, personal lubricants, topical
pharmaceuticals and toothpaste. Basically, a huge percentage of the
products you buy for everyday use contain some form of paraben, so it
can be difficult to find products that do not use them.
There have been studies on
both sides of the argument…parabens are bad and parabens are ok you have to decide and review the facts.
Parabens are common
preservatives found in many skin care and cosmetic products. While most
people find little irritation from any of the four most common parabens they can cause contact dermatitis if you have skin sensitivities,
such as rosacea.
A study in 2004 found traces of Parabens in breast cancer cells of 20
samples. Parabens can mimic the hormone estrogen, which is known to play a role in the development of breast cancers. The study did not show that parabens cause cancer, or that
they are harmful in any way, but there is needless to say, ongoing debate on the use of parabens.
While there is no scientific issues
with parabens, many are looking
for ways to eliminate the number of chemicals we introduce to our skin. Many personal care companies are
removing Parabens from their products due to possible links between increased risk to breast cancer, weight gain & fetal
abnormalities.
The jury is still out on how and why parabens might affect development
and growth of both babies and adults but there is no harm being careful with this kind of stuff…you decide.
The following products are free from parabens, some being 100% natural.
Please note we stock Paraben Free, SLS (sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and SLES (Sodium lauryl ether sulfate) free Shampoo as part of our range.
